The Port of Turku is situated on the southwestern coast of Finland in a sheltered location at the mouth of the river Aura, which runs through the city. The city centre is only 3 km away, easily accessible by a free shuttle bus (during a cruise vessel's call), local bus or a nice walk along the river promenade. The international airport is only 13 km from the port. There is plenty of quay space for both small and big ships and space for further expansion. A dedicated cruise berth for cruise vessels (max 170 m) was completed in summer 2008. The berth is in a prime location at the mouth of the river Aura right next to the medieval Turku Castle, only 3 km from the city centre. The port is a forerunner in security issues. State-of-the-art video surveillance and motion detectors prevent any unauthorised traffic in the port area.

The number of cruise calls is growing at a steady pace. Turku makes every effort to ensure the cruise passengers and crews have a memorable stay in the city.
