Car imports continue to grow rapidly

There are long traditions in importing of cars in Turku and the Port of Turku, and both the Port and its co-operation partners have gathered plenty of expertise in that business. In addition, sufficient space is reserved for cars, and the connections to Turku and further to other locations in Finland are excellent.

Importing of cars forms a continuously increasing share of the cargo transports through the Port of Turku. A total of around 30,000 cars pass through the port annually, which makes Turku Finland's third biggest harbour for car imports at the moment.

As a response to the increasing car imports the Port of Turku is continuously developing both the port areas and the services to meet the needs of car importing even better. The most recent proof of that is the construction of new storage and loading areas for a total of 6,500 cars.

The services of the car terminal area developed together with the importers and logistics companies allow for quick turnaround of vehicles from the port to the retailers. Added value to customers is created by the vehicle inspection and finishing services provided by partners, which ensure that the consumers waiting for their cars are satisfied with their purchase.
