Capacity and space for development

The Port of Turku is continuously developing its infrastructure as per the needs of its customers. The operations are systematic and anticipating which is made possible by the active dialogue with different interest groups. In addition to the development outlook for the Turku economic region, the Port's capacity structure and development of resources are affected by the progress of maritime traffic and transport corridors in the Baltic Sea.

The Port of Turku's close co-operation with different customer segments allows for tailored services for different users and solutions for the changing needs of even individual customers. Good examples of this are the distribution warehouses built in the Ovako area and long-term co-operation to secure and develop the operating conditions of local shipbuilding industry.

Matti J. Niemi, CHIEF OF TECHNICAL DEPARTMENT: "As a response to our increasing need for field space we will get around 6 hectares of new field space by the year 2012."
